There’s nothing worse than the feeling of dry, tight, itchy or flaky skin! Whether it’s the weather or your skin is naturally quite dry, there are ways you can re-hydrate your skin and bring back that fresh, plump and healthy glow! Keep reading for our top six tips to keep your skin hydrated.

Use a humidifier

A humidifier is a great way to add moisture into the air, especially where the use of air-conditioning and heater is common – such as the office. Place a humidifier on your desk or next to your bed to help stop your skin from drying out. If you don’t have a humidifier, keep a hydrating facial mist on hand and spray it on whenever your skin starts feeling thirsty!

Water is your best friend

Of course, one of the best ways to keep your skin hydrated is from the inside out! Drink plenty of water (have you had you eight glasses today?) and eat water-rich foods, such as watermelon, cucumber and celery to keep your skin looking hydrated and fresh! Don’t like drinking plain water? Add a sprig of mint or some sliced up strawberry to tempt your taste buds.

Opt for water-based skincare

When your skin is feeling dry, you might think any old moisturiser will do. Just slather it on thick, right? Not quite. Ingredients matter when it comes to keep your skin plump and dewy. Choose a moisturiser with hydration-boosting properties, such as hyaluronic acid which can attract and hold up to 1000 times its own weight in water. Try the ReBalense Moisture Dry, which uses hyaluronic acid and Chondrus Crispus to enhance and prolong the release of moisture and active ingredients. It’s also important to avoid ingredients that will dry out your skin, such as alcohol.

Double-down on your treatments

On top of your hydrating moisturiser and at home products, double-down on the hydration by treating your skin to a Hydra-Infusion skin treatment. Designed to deeply hydrate and nourish, the hydra infusion skin treatment targets dull, dry and dehydrated skin and is the perfect treatment for all skin types. During the 40-minute treatment, a unique infusion of Hyaluronic acid, Vitamin B and fruit enzymes is used to leave your skin plump, fresh and glowing. Resist the temptation for a long hot shower

Hot showers, baths, saunas – while they are oh-so tempting, all of these can dry out your skin and leave it feeling tight and flaky. Minimise the damage by turning down the heat to a moderate temperature and keep your showers shorter. Once you jump out, take this golden opportunity to trap in the moisture by applying your water-based moisturiser over damp skin!

Don’t lick those lips!

With dry skin, often comes dry lips – but did you know that licking chapped lips can actually make things worse? Your lips only become drier with every lick, and so the vicious cycle continues. The process is called desiccation and occurs when your saliva deposits hydroscopic compounds such as salt onto your skin, which draws out moisture. Avoid this by using a hydrating and soothing lip balm throughout the day – as well as sunscreen to protect your lips from the elements.
