When it comes to skin rejuvenation, microneedling and radiofrequency (RF) treatments have long been trusted to improve skin texture, reduce the appearance of wrinkles, and address various skin concerns. At Australian Skin Clinics, we’re proud to offer two advanced skin rejuvenation treatments across our clinics: RF Needling and Sylfirm X Advanced RF Needling. Both bring unique benefits, technologies, and solutions, but what is the difference? And which one is the best fit for your skin goals? Let’s dive in and explore!

Understanding the Technology

Both Fractional RF Needling and Sylfirm X Advanced RF Needling combine microneedling with radiofrequency energy to stimulate collagen production, helping to improve skin texture, firmness, and appearance. However, each treatment delivers the RF energy in a different way:

Fractional RF Needling: This treatment uses traditional microneedling with a single, continuous wave of RF energy delivered in a steady, uninterrupted flow through the microneedles. The microneedles create controlled micro-injuries in the deeper layers of the skin, activating the skin’s natural healing response. This process promotes collagen and elastin production, which helps tighten the skin, reduce scarring, and improve overall texture and rejuvenation.

Sylfirm X Advanced RF Needling: Sylfirm X also combines microneedling with RF energy but offers a unique twist. Instead of one radio frequency, the technology behind Sylfirm X offers both continuous wave RF and pulsed wave RF modes. This dual-mode technology allows Sylfirm X to target not only skin rejuvenation but also pigmentation and vascular issues, making it a versatile solution for range of skin concerns.

Who Are These Treatments For?

Due to each treatments delivery system, each treatment offers unique benefits, making them suited for different skin needs:

Fractional RF Needling: This treatment is suitable for most skin types, especially for those looking to improve skin firmness, reduce fine lines, and address tone, texture or acne scaring.

Sylfirm X: Sylfirm X is ideal for those with pigmentation or vascular concerns who also want the rejuvenating effects of RF needling. Sylfirm X also has adjustable needle depth (as shallow as 0.3mm) which allows treatment to delicate areas such as around the eyes.

Treatment Frequency and Downtime

Both Fractional RF Needling and Sylfirm X typically require an initial course of three treatments, spaced two weeks apart for the face and four weeks apart for the body.

With RF Needling, mild to moderate redness and swelling are common in the first 24 hours. Between days 1-4, it is common to experience mild erythema, skin flaking or a dry sensation. Most people can expect a full recovery within 4-7 days.

Sylfirm X generally involves less downtime. In the first 4-6 hours post treatment, you may notice a warm sensation, and mild flushing may persist for the first 24 hours. Redness usually fades after a day, though the skin may continue to feel dry or appear slightly flaky for up to 7 days.

Which Treatment is Right for You?

Both Fractional RF Needling and Sylfirm X are excellent options for enhancing skin quality and rejuvenation. When deciding between them, consider your specific skin concerns, available downtime, and budget.

While both treatments deliver impressive results, Sylfirm X may be ideal for those with a variety of skin issues or those with a busy schedule. Fractional RF Needling, on the other hand, remains a reliable option for improving skin texture and boosting collagen production.

As with any skin treatment, it’s essential to consult with one of our dermal therapists, who can assess your skin type, discuss your concerns, and recommend the best approach tailored to your needs, so book now and discover which treatment is for you!
