Thinking about Laser Hair Removal but have so many questions? We’ve got you! Here are our top 5 questions about Laser Hair Removal.

1. Is Laser Hair Removal safe?

Of course! Here at Australian Skin Clinics, we are not just focused on helping you achieve the best results, but also on receiving a safe treatment. Laser uses a near infrared light to target either the melanin or oxyhaemoglobin in the hair follicle, without affecting the surrounding skin.

To increase the safety of your treatments, we use the world’s leading Laser Hair Removal technology and have highly trained Laser Technicians.

2. Who is Laser Hair Removal suitable for?

Who would be the lucky winner of the Laser Hair Removal Lottery you ask? Fair, medium and darker skin tones with thick, dark coloured hair. Using our two different wavelengths allows the Laser Technicians to safely and effectively treat all skin tones. Laser is selective on its targets, so the hair must be darker than the skin tone to be effective. Laser is also most successful on terminal hairs, which are the thicker and deeper hairs.

This does mean that fine or light-coloured hair (red, blonde or grey) are not successfully treated by Laser.

To help assess if you are suitable for treatment, we conduct a complimentary consultation prior to treatment.

3. Is Laser Hair Removal permanent?

Although Laser Hair Removal is an effective solution to reduce unwanted hairs, it is not guaranteed to permanently remove 100% of the hair. Instead, you will experience a permanent reduction in the area, with each treatment getting you closer to smoother skin and finer hair growth.

Genetics and hormones also influence our hair growth, so even though Laser feels like magic, it won’t banish the hair forever. It’s more like playing whack-a-mole with your follicles – zap one and another might pop up to say hello!

4. How do I prepare for my appointment?

For increase the Laser absorption in your hair follicles, we ask that you do a clean shave within 24 hours before your treatment. Not only will this improve the effectiveness of the treatment, but it will also increase the comfort level.

At Australian Skin Clinics, we carefully map out Laser treatments on facial areas. We ask you to leave the shaving to us so we can provide you with a thorough and detailed treatment.

As Laser is attracted to pigment, it’s important to avoid changes in skin tone. We ask that you avoid sun exposure/solariums and fake tan products for 2-4 weeks prior to treatment. Changes in skin tone increase the risks associated with Laser, which will result in your appointment being extended. To stay on track with your results, use UV Defiance SPF 50+ daily on your treated areas and avoid exposure to the sun.

5. What do I need to do after my appointment?

Great news – rest! It’s normal for your skin to experience heat for up to three days after a Laser Hair Removal treatment. To reduce the heat and risk of irritation, we recommend avoiding tight clothing, steam rooms, saunas and intense exercise.

Our Post Laser Skincare pack has been specifically designed to support your skin after a treatment. So, to get back to normal (and treat your skin), make sure you get hold of the aftercare pack here.
