Whether you’re tired of constant shaving, waxing appointments, or dealing with painful ingrown hairs, our advanced treatments are designed to offer a long-term solution. With clinics across Australia, a team of highly trained professionals, and the latest in medical-grade laser technology, we deliver tailored treatments to suit your unique needs.
What is Laser Hair Removal?
Laser hair removal is a clinically proven, non-invasive procedure that targets hair follicles using concentrated light energy. By heating the pigment within each follicle, the laser disables its ability to regrow, leading to a noticeable reduction in hair growth over time. This process is safe, effective, and offers long-lasting results, making it an excellent alternative to traditional methods like shaving, waxing, or epilation.
Whether you’re looking to remove hair on larger areas like your legs, back, or arms, or delicate areas like your bikini line or face, laser hair removal provides precision, safety, and results you can trust.
The Benefits of Laser Hair Removal
- Permanent Hair Reduction: Laser hair removal offers a long-term solution, significantly reducing hair regrowth with every session. Most clients can notice visible improvements after their first few treatments, and a complete course ensures results that last.
- Safe & Effective with Advanced Technology: We use Candela Gentle YAG and Gentle PRO lasers, renowned for their safety, precision, and ability to treat all skin types effectively. With its adjustable settings, our technology ensures personalised care for every client.
- Prevents Ingrown Hairs: Shaving and waxing often leave behind painful ingrown hairs. Laser hair removal eliminates the root of the problem—quite literally—by targeting the follicle and preventing hair regrowth beneath the skin’s surface.
- Precise & Versatile: Our laser technology can focus on individual areas with pinpoint accuracy or treat multiple follicles simultaneously, making it suitable for both small zones like the upper lip and larger areas like the chest or back.
- Time-Saving Convenience: Say goodbye to the endless cycle of daily shaving or regular waxing appointments. With laser hair removal, you’ll save hours every week and enjoy a carefree beauty routine.
How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?
Our process ensures your journey to smooth, hair-free skin is both seamless and effective.
- Initial Consultation: Your journey begins with a one-on-one consultation with our experienced laser technicians. During this session, we evaluate your skin type, hair colour, and goals to create a treatment plan that’s customised for optimal safety and results.
- Tailored Treatment Plan: Every client’s skin is unique, which is why we tailor each session to your specific needs. Our Candela lasers are adjustable, allowing us to treat a wide range of skin tones and hair colours effectively.
- Laser Hair Removal Treatment: During your session, the laser emits light energy that penetrates the skin to target hair follicles directly. Each pulse treats multiple follicles simultaneously, making it an efficient option for larger areas. To ensure your comfort, our Candela lasers feature an integrated cooling system that soothes the skin during treatment, minimising discomfort.
- Progress Over Time: Since hair grows in cycles, multiple sessions are needed to achieve optimal results. Most clients should start to see the best outcomes after completing an initial series of 6–12 treatments, spaced a few weeks apart.
Preparing for Your Treatment
Proper preparation ensures your skin is ready for treatment and reduces the risk of irritation:
- Protect Your Skin from the Sun: Avoid excessive sun exposure or sunburns on the treatment area for at least two weeks before your appointment. Sunburned skin can increase your sensitivity to the laser. Also, avoid self-tanning lotions for two weeks prior to your appointment.
- Stop Using Certain Products: Refrain from applying deodorants, moisturisers, or products containing Vitamin A, retinol, or alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) on the area being treated.
- Skip Conventional Hair Removal: Avoid waxing, plucking, or epilating before your treatment. These methods temporarily remove the hair root, which the laser needs to target effectively.
- Shave the Area Beforehand: Shaving ensures the laser energy focuses on the hair follicle rather than the hair shaft. Do this 24 hours before your session.
What to Expect After Treatment
Taking care of your skin post-treatment is essential for healing and achieving the best results:
- Avoid Heat & Friction: Refrain from hot showers, saunas, or any activities that cause excessive sweating for at least 48 hours. Loose clothing is recommended to prevent irritation in treated areas.
- Keep Makeup & Skincare Light: If the treated area is on your face, avoid applying heavy makeup or thick skincare products for 24 hours. Opt for a soothing, fragrance-free moisturiser instead, such as the Aesthetics RX Daily Hydrating Moisturiser.
- Protect Your Skin from the Sun: Use SPF 50+ sunscreen daily and sun protection to protect the treated area from sun exposure. Laser-treated skin can be more sensitive to UV rays.
- Skip Intense Exercise: Avoid strenuous activities that increase body heat and sweating for the first 24–48 hours, as this can irritate your skin.
- Stay Hydrated & Soothe Skin: Drink plenty of water and apply Balense Recovery Laser Gel if needed to calm redness or sensitivity.

Laser hair removal has fast become one of the most effective options for permanent hair reduction. No laser clinic can claim 100% hair removal, as some hair will always strive to grow back. Re-growth can be affected by hormones and other biological factors which can vary depending on the individual.
Yes, a large percentage of our clientele are male and the most commonly treated areas treated are back, chest and arms.
Laser can decrease the chance of experiencing ingrown hairs. When there is no hair in the follicle, there is less chance of an ingrown hair occurring.
Laser hair removal achieves the best results for people with fairer skin and darker hair, however our laser technology and laser preparation products allow us to treat a variety of skin and hair types. Laser hair removal is not suited to blonde, red, grey or white hair. Your technician will be able to assess your hair during a free consultation.
The laser specifically targets the pigment within the hair follicle. Consequently, it is important not to affect the skin’s pigmentation before or after your laser treatments. Sun exposure can increase the risk of adverse reaction including burning, blistering and post inflammatory hyper or hypo pigmentation in some cases these reactions can be permanent and prevent you from achieving your ideal results.
Please avoid sun exposure or solariums 2 – 4 weeks prior to your first treatment and continue to avoid exposure to the treatment area throughout your entire treatment plan. Be sure to also apply sunscreen hourly if you are exposed to direct sunlight.
It is also recommended not to use any form of artificial tanning products prior to your treatment, this includes fake tan sprays or lotions and bronzing powders or creams. As these products alter your natural skin colour, they must be completely removed from the treatment area prior to your appointment, otherwise your technician may advise you to postpone your treatment.
Clients with hormonal imbalances or Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) are recommended to consult an Endocrinologist for evaluation and possible medical treatment. These clients tend to have excess hair growth secondary to their medical condition and may find that they require both medical treatment as well as ongoing laser treatment, in order to achieve optimum results.
At Australian Skin Clinics, we require clients to be at least 18 years old to receive laser hair removal treatments. If you’re under the age of 18, we may still provide treatment, but parental or guardian consent will be required.
During your initial consultation, our team will assess your skin type, hair type, and overall suitability for treatment. We take extra care with younger clients to ensure that the hair growth and hormonal changes have stabilised, which can impact treatment results.
Yes, if you have epilepsy, it’s important to inform us before undergoing laser hair removal. The bright flashes of light emitted during the treatment can be a potential trigger for individuals with epilepsy.
Our experienced team will assess your medical history during the consultation and discuss alternative methods or adjustments to your treatment plan to ensure that your safety and comfort are prioritised. In some cases, we may advise against laser hair removal if it poses any risks to your health.
Laser hair removal cannot be performed directly over tattoos. The laser used in hair removal targets the pigment in the hair follicle, which means it can also react with the pigments in a tattoo.
This can lead to skin damage, including burns, blisters, or fading of the tattoo. During your treatment, our skilled therapists will carefully work around any tattooed areas to avoid these risks. If you’re concerned about hair growth near a tattoo, we can recommend other safe hair removal methods for those areas.
While there is no conclusive research indicating that laser hair removal is unsafe during pregnancy, we advise against undergoing laser treatments while pregnant as a precautionary measure. During pregnancy, your body goes through significant hormonal changes, which can affect hair growth and sensitivity to treatments.
To prioritise the health and safety of both you and your baby, we recommend waiting until after childbirth to begin or resume your laser hair removal treatments. Our consultants will be happy to provide you with detailed guidance on post-pregnancy treatment plans.
Most clients find laser hair removal to be very tolerable without the need for numbing creams. Our advanced laser machines come equipped with cooling technology to soothe the skin during treatment and minimise discomfort.
However, if you have a lower pain threshold or are particularly sensitive to treatments, we can discuss the option of using a topical numbing cream during your consultation. Our aim is to ensure that your experience is as comfortable and painless as possible, and we’ll tailor the treatment to suit your needs.
