How do PDO threads work?
PDO Mono Threads work by stimulating the growth of collagen and elastin in desired areas across the face. PDO Threads are single, smooth threads made from common dissolvable suture material (polydioxanone). They are gently placed under the skin via small needles to create a tissue response that initiates an important growth factor release to encourage a fibroblast activation. PDO threads FAQs
Treatments take approximately 30-45 minutes and begin with a complimentary consultation.
There isn’t any downtime from a standalone PDO Mono Thread treatment. After treatment you may experience some swelling and/or bruising that will disappear over the next 3-7 days. We recommend treatments of LED prior to your PDO Threads appointment to assist in minimising potential bruising.
Depending on the desired outcome, results can be achieved in as little as your first treatment. Additional treatments may be required based on collagen depletion and size of area to be treated.
Whilst effects may be observed immediately, maximum tension from the PDO Mono Threads will be visible from around 8-12 weeks post treatment. As the body continues to remodel new collagen and tissue support around the threads, ongoing outcomes can be obtainable for up to 12-months.
As everyone’s skin is unique, there is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ for the number of threads required. There are numerous factors that will determine how many threads will be used, such as your current skin health, the area being treated, and desired results.
