How it works
PicoSure employs ultra-short pulses of laser energy in a fractional approach lasting a trillionth of a second. The energy selectively targets skin chromophores like melanin, making it superior for treating pigmentation. The high-energy impact disrupts molecules in the upper skin layers, stimulating collagen remodelling with minimal thermal damage.
The results involve reduced skin pigmentation and heightened collagen production, leading to diminished acne scars, improved skin texture, reduced fine lines, and an overall enhancement in skin tone.
What to Expect
During your skin consultation, our expert technicians will discuss a treatment plan to ensure you understand PicoSure and its benefits. Our consultations include discussions about any past treatments you may have had, a visual assessment of the skin, how to prepare for treatments, and how to maximise your results and ensure they are long-lasting.
A test patch may be performed before commencing your treatment.
Pre + Post Treatment Care
Sun exposure can increase the risk of burning, blistering and pigment changes within the skin, so it is essential to avoid sun exposure or solariums for at least four weeks before treatment and throughout your treatment plan. Ensure the area is free of artificial pigments such as makeup and fake tan on the day of your appointment.
Many liken the feeling after a PicoSure treatment to sunburn when skin is red and hot to the touch. For most clients, this usually subsides in 2-12 hours, but in some cases, it can last up to 48 hours after treatment (should these effects last for longer than 48 hours, please contact your closest clinic).
It is advised to avoid hot showers, baths, pools, spas, steam, sauna and the gym for at least 48 hours post-treatment, this may be extended if the treatment area is still warm or irritated.

As with all treatments at Australian Skin Clinics, we begin your journey with a free skin consultation where our team of expert technicians will tailor a plan to target your concerns and help you reach your skin goals.
Most clients notice their skin will feel firmer directly after treatment, with the full effects usually seen approximately 3-5 days later.
As with most laser treatments, some discomfort will be felt, however, we find most clients tolerate it well, and your technician will regularly check in to see how you are doing. The Zimmer Cooling System is used to cool the treatment area which reduces discomfort.
No – Numbing creams or gels are often water-based and create a barrier over the skin (even when removed). This water-based barrier prevents the full effects of the laser from being able to penetrate the target, reducing the results of the treatment.
As with all laser treatments some very mild discomfort will be felt; however, most clients are able to tolerate the treatment easily. For all tattoo removal treatments, the Zimmer Cooling System will be used to cool the treatment area, which reduces the discomfort felt by the client considerably.
The PicoSure also reduces any client discomfort by over 50% vs traditional Q Switch Nanosecond technology.
Your technician will be able to take the care necessary to ensure you are as comfortable as possible throughout the treatment.
Immediately after the treatment, the area will feel very similar to sunburn with reddened skin that is hot to touch.
The tattoo may appear slightly raised and frosted (white) in appearance immediately after the laser treatment. This is the skin’s protective mechanism- the laser creates enough of a response in the ink particles that the skin tries to shield itself from further destruction. There may be surrounding skin redness, and there may be some pinpoint bleeding.
