Please note: Darker skin phototypes (Fitzpatrick 4-6 clients) may not be suitable for the Jessner Peel within this treatment. Skin preparation prior to a Jessner Peel is also required. We recommend calling for a pre-screen prior to online purchasing.
2 WEEKS PRIOR
The skin must be prepared with the correct cosmeceutical ingredients for a minimum of two weeks prior to treatment. We recommend the Balense Skin Resurfacing Cleanser, Balense Brightening Serum Concentrate, Balense Antioxidant Lift FX Serum or Balense Retinol Renewal Serum and the Balense UV Defiance SPF 50+ (or equivalent products of another cosmeceutical brand). Please speak with your dermal technicians if you have any questions regarding your pre-treatment product routine. Avoid waxing, laser or IPL hair removal, depilatory creams and electrolysis. Avoid prescription retinol (topical vitamin A) or Hydroquinone (whitening creams). No chemical peels or laser resurfacing treatments.
3 DAYS PRIOR
Cease use of cosmeceutical retinol. Avoid excess sun exposure, solariums and fake tanning.
48 HOURS PRIOR
No cosmetic injections in the treatment area.
12 HOURS POST TREATMENT
It is vitally important not to wet the skin for 12 hours post treatment, as this will reactivate the Jessner peeling process (ie: avoid the rain, showers, steam from cooking etc).
24 HOURS POST
Avoid hot showers, sauna, steam rooms and exercise. Commence a gentle skincare routine using the recommended products. Drink plenty of water to rehydrate your skin. The recommended recovery cream an SPF 50+ can be applied liberally every 4 hours.
1-7 DAYS POST
Begin a gentle skincare routine including the Balense Hydrating Gentle Cleanser, Recovery Cream, Balense Hyaluronic Acid Mist and an SPF50+ daily. Avoid active products containing AHA/BHA (such as Retinol, AHAs, Vitamin C) or any topical prescription cream. Avoid direct sun exposure. Mild to moderate flaking is a normal process following a Jessner peel – Do not pick the skin as this could lead to hyper/hypo-pigmentation or scarring.
5-7 DAYS POST
Ideally, incorporate Balense Enzymatic Sleep Masque to routine to gently exfoliate with overnight application.
What is microdermabrasion?
A microdermabrasion is a non-invasive skin treatment that exfoliates and removes the dead, dull, outermost layer of skin. Often referred to as a micro or Microderm, this gentle and invigorating treatment leaves your skin clean, clear, bright and purified.
Are microdermabrasions the same as a regular facial?
Microdermabrasions are different from a regular facial, as they use active skincare products and advanced technology to exfoliate the dull, dead, outer surface of the skin, leaving it clear, bright and purified. Most notably, microdermabrasion treatments feature the use of diamond-tipped machines and vacuum suction to extract debris from your pores and collect dead skin.
Does microdermabrasion hurt?
Microdermabrasions are a non-invasive treatment that targets the outermost layers of the skin. The diamond-tipped suction machine feels like tiny sand-like particles running across your face; a strange sensation for first-timers but by no means painful.
